I live in Moscow, Russia and even though my father is a great artist, I never thought of trying myself in this field. I graduated from Moscow University of Electronics and worked for a couple of years as an engineer, but after I gave birth to three kids I needed to find some work I could do from home. I guess it was my lucky day when I saw an ad for seed beading classes. Beading is a fascinating form of art and I am learning new things every day. I go for the modern look in my jewelry, but at the same time trying to incorporate Russian traditional beading techniques in my work. I have a lot of new ideas for jewelry and I am very happy I can share them with you.

Marcia Acker-Missall
Marcia Acker-Missall - Doll Artist –Teacher and Designer
Potted Frogs Whimsical Creations

Teaching Philosophy: My goal in teaching is to provide a relaxed yet stimulating atmosphere in which my students can absorb new information and techniques and learn to put these new skills to immediate use. My classes are designed to provide the most intensive and technical instruction during class time so that students may continue to work on their own toward completing the doll between class sessions. Giggling and Tootsie Roll Lolly Pops are a requirement in all my classes.

Professional History: Doll Artist I am an experienced and accomplished fine artist who has fallen in love with doll making. My concentration is in the creation of cloth dolls and whimsical creations. I use a broad palette of fabrics, trims and surface design using Sewing machine and mixed media some of which include paints, colored pencils, fabric pens, and dyes.

Pattern Designer: I have created my own line of original art doll pattern designs under the name “ Potted Frogs”. These patterns are available at wholesale and retail prices. My patterns are carefully thought out and contain very detailed written directions that are accompanied by step-by-step illustrations and pattern pieces to make a finished doll.

Bead Artist: I create a variety of beaded items to wear and to embellish my art with. These include amulet purses, beaded needle cases, bracelets, and hand sculpted and beaded pins.

Most recently my work has been published in the internationally distributed magazine Belle Armoire – Art to Wear the Premier Issue April 2001, in which my hand sculpted, painted and beaded face pins and pattern text appear. My work has also appeared in Boca Raton magazine.

Sandra D. Halpenny
Hi, my name is Sandra Halpenny, and I began beading about 11 years ago. I first learned to do bead weaving from a Danish lady who sold patterns and beads in her basement. She also gave free lessons on Danish beadwork. That’s when my love affair started with those little glass beads (my husband isn’t too jealous).

Ah, but then I found my first Delica bead. I started with a small pattern book and 3-5gram packages of delicas, but soon I was buying 100gram packages and designing my own patterns, too. My background is in art and I do photo retouching full time at home. Beading has lead me into a new form of art. I now not only buy beads, but I do peyote classes and also sell many of the things I make at a local bead store.

I hope you enjoy making my patterns as much as I enjoy designing and making them myself.

Ennikki Eze
60 years old language teacher, living in Finland alone with many animals in a huge house without mirrors and a Sauna in the middle, children and grandchildren in Sweden, salmon fishing cottage in Norway.

My home is the World and my heart is in the countries where my friends live. Too many hobbies to mention and too little time to practice them.

Started beading in 1999.

I am so proud over being able to read (beading books and Internet)...and Suzanne Cooper´s Spiral Rope was my first trial (and error) and got me hooked.

I've loved beads for as long as I can remember, but I didn't realize that you could do more with them than just string necklaces…until a friend showed me brick stitch. Then I was addicted for sure! I stumbled upon my favorite stitch, two-drop peyote, by accident. The brick stitch was just too slow for me, so I was trying to find a way to get the work done faster. Then I started checking out beading websites and found out that it was actually a tried and true technique! Shoot, and here I thought I’d invented something new!

My husband and I have two young children, Josiah and Vivian. I don't have as much time to enjoy all the crafts that I used to, so designing beadwork patterns is a wonderful escape. I also like to crochet on winter evenings.

I'll confess that the picture shown is from back in 2000, but it's still how we look in each other's eyes.

Teresa Bolen Okamoto
Teresa lives with her husband in Kyoto, Japan. Actively involved in both the fine arts and in crafts from early childhood, she came into beadwork through professional pearl stringing. Until recently she had limited her designs to individual pieces, but as a result of her involvement with The Bead Quilt, she learned about Bead-Patterns.com and is happy to have the opportunity to share her designs with others. Teresa is fluent in Japanese and Japanese Sign Language, as well as her native English. In her spare time she plays the Ryuteki and Komabue (ancient Japanese transverse flutes) and dances with the ancient Japanese court Bugaku and Gagaku ensemble, Nanto Gakuso.

I have been beading and designing for about 17 years. My first book was published with Eagle's View Publishing, to be followed with two more with this publisher before venturing out and self publishing. I now have a total of seven books in print. I hope to have "Masterpieces For Beadwork" released in early 2002. In addition, I am designing for two more books.

Designing for Bead-Patterns.com is been great fun! I enjoy the challenge, the variety of styles and complexity of the patterns that I have created.
